Hi Everybody,
As this is my first president's report, I would firstly like to thank Lee for all the work he has put into the association over the last four years. Not too many understand the work and time in what he has done. In saying that I would like to praise Jodie for putting up with it all and I know it's been a big ask with a young family.
Anyway on behalf of the association I would like to wish Lee, Jodie and the boys all the best in the coming years. I would like to congratulate all members of the TWSDA and people who have helped run trials, let sheep out and to the women who have done some pretty remarkable catering for triallers at times. These few things, as they may seem small, make for great trialling in Tassie. I think the standard of trialling in Tassie is at a very high level and as a state we can be very proud of what we have achieved over the last few years. Malcolm won the Supreme; we have had two members in the Australian team and helped that team in beating New Zealand for two consecutive years. Malcolm once again is in the team for Port Fairy, best of luck Malcolm. Tasmania has won the Ted Gaby trophy two out of three years, pipped at the post in Launceston by half a point.
We have some newer members that are starting to raise their level of trialling; Geoff Elmer has had some good results and shows the effort he's putting in. Harry Allen, Barry Easton, Mary Sotheran, Brian Tuthill and Vicki Jones to name a few are all improving their standard which is great for the future of trialling. The only downside from this last year is we've lost members for various reasons, the two Jones boys!! Damien with a young family, Paul and Jill hoping to do a bit of travelling, Greg Skeggs, travelling is wearing him down and Lee with a young family. I hope that they all at some time come back into trialling as they are valued competitors.
Any member that is keen on running a training day during the winter, could you please contact Lance or Myself and we'll work out a date. To all the members who have taken on positions or jobs for the coming year, I thank you, and to myself if I can keep up to half the standard of the last President I'll be happy.
Good Trialling - Bernard McGlashan.
